Dr Pushpati Nath Razdan was born on December 25, 1948, in Srinagar. He earned a Master of Science from the University of Kashmir in 1971 and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Roorkee in 1975. He was appointed to the position of assistant professor at H.P. Agriculture University, Solan. In 1983, Dr Razdan joined the Geological Survey of India. He was named Deputy Director General (Geochemistry) in February 2005 and Senior Deputy Director General in February 2008. He oversaw all northern geoscientific activities for more than three years as Deputy Director General and Head of the Northern Region of the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Ministry of Mines, Government of India.
He joined the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in April 2001 as adviser I, a position he held until February 2005. Before becoming an advisor for quality assurance (QA) and member secretary (NBA) in July 2002, he oversaw various bureaus. As Member Secretary of the NBA, he was responsible for raising national awareness of accreditation. His contributions to the NBA as a member of the Washington Accord/INQQHAE/Asian Accord have been widely acknowledged. Dr Razdan submitted a membership application to the Washington Accord in New Zealand in 2004. He was the principal architect for the initial drafting of Regulations for "Entry and Operation of Foreign Universities and Institutions Intent on Providing Technical Education in India." He served on several MHRD/UGC committees addressing various issues in higher and technical education.
He has published numerous research papers in prestigious international journals. He is both a visiting professor at Allahabad University and a guest professor at the GSI Training Institute. He received the H. K. Sen. Memorial Medal from the Institution of Chemists in 2006. The Government of India nominated him as a member of the "High Power Committee on GSI." The Ministry of Human Resources appointed him chairman of a review committee to evaluate the ministry's sub-mission schemes for polytechnics.
During his two-year tenure as Pro Vice-Chancellor at KIIT University Bhubaneswar, Dr Razdan was responsible for various activities in seven independent schools of engineering. He was appointed Vice-Chancellor oDrr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, in 2010 and resigned on December 31, 2018. He was accountable for leading, directing, and managing the academic and administrative operations of DPUdaily, as well as providing strategic planning and leadership to the Vidyapeeth.
Dr Razdan joined Gokula Education Foundation, Bangalore, in January 2019 as Principal Advisor, Quality Assurance and Excellence Cell to oversee total quality management of institutions for national and international visibility via accreditation, rating, and ranking.
